House rules

How we behave down here.

The Underground works because operators answer each other straight. These are the rules that keep it that way.
  • 1

    Be Respectful and Supportive

Treat every member the way you would want to be treated. We are all here to learn and grow. Personal attacks, name-calling, and condescending language have no place in our community.

    Do

    • Give constructive feedback with kindness
    • Acknowledge different perspectives and experiences
    • Celebrate the wins of other members

    Don't

    • Insult, bully, or demean other members
    • Dismiss someone because of their experience level
    • Engage in personal arguments publicly
  • 2

    Keep Discussions On Topic

Post in the appropriate boards and keep conversations relevant to the topic at hand. This helps everyone find the information they need quickly.

    Do

    • Use the correct community board for your topic
    • Search before posting to avoid duplicate threads
    • Write clear, descriptive titles for your posts

    Don't

    • Cross-post the same content across multiple boards
    • Hijack threads with unrelated topics
    • Post vague titles that do not describe your question
  • 3

    Share Knowledge Generously

Our community thrives when members share their real-world experiences. If you have solved a problem or learned a lesson, share it. Your story could save someone else months of struggle.

    Do

    • Share lessons learned from your operations
    • Provide specific, actionable advice when possible
    • Credit sources when sharing data or research

    Don't

    • Gate-keep information or give intentionally vague answers
    • Share proprietary data from employers without permission
    • Present opinions as established facts
  • 4

    Protect Privacy

Respect the privacy of all community members. What is shared in the community stays in the community unless someone gives explicit permission.

    Do

    • Ask before sharing someone else's story or advice externally
    • Use general terms when discussing sensitive situations
    • Report any privacy concerns to the moderation team

    Don't

    • Share screenshots of private messages or conversations
    • Reveal personal details about other members
  • 5

    No Spam or Self-Promotion

This is a learning community, not a marketing channel. While sharing relevant tools or resources is welcome, unsolicited promotion is not.

    Do

    • Share a tool or service if it genuinely answers someone's question
    • Disclose any affiliation when recommending products
    • Use the designated channels for vendor introductions

    Don't

    • Post unsolicited advertisements or promotions
    • Send bulk direct messages to promote products
    • Create threads solely to drive traffic to external sites
  • 6

    Follow the Rules

These guidelines exist to keep our community safe and productive for everyone. Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent removal depending on severity.

    Do

    • Read and understand these guidelines before participating
    • Report violations using the report feature
    • Reach out to moderators if you are unsure about something

    Don't

    • Attempt to circumvent moderation actions
    • Create alternate accounts to evade suspensions
    • Retaliate against members who report violations

What happens when someone doesn't

Moderators read every report and act on how bad it is and how often it has happened. The usual path:

  1. 1

    Warning

    Friendly reminder of guidelines

  2. 2

    Temp Mute

    Posting restricted for 24-72 hours

  3. 3

    Suspension

    Account suspended for 7-30 days

  4. 4

    Ban

    Permanent removal from community

Harassment, threats and anything illegal skip the path. Those are removed on sight, permanently.
